Official DVD Release Is Available

You buy it directly from Warner Archive dot com. It is only sold on their website and not in stores.

I hear the quality of the picture is similar to video-to-DVD transfer and not as sharp as if they digitally remastered the movie itself. Can anyone confirm this?

I also heard that the reason that the DVD is only available online and not through stores is that the DVDs are basically made-to-order (ie, when you place an order for the DVD, they go and make one for you; they do not stock any of the 'archive' titles). That makes sense since alot of the movies featured are 'minor classics' that would appeal only to true collectors of a specific genre.

Warner admits on their Warner Archive website that not all of their films in this series are remastered, but in regard to this film the quality is quite good. These titles are indeed produced as ordered, on dvd-r. Seems odd to buy an official dvd on a burned disc, but I'm perfectly happy with the quality. They did remaster one of my all time favorite films, Two on a Guillotine, and it's beautiful. Flipper season 2 was also released "on demand," and again another outstanding release. I don't mind getting titles on dvd-r as I doubt these films would see a release otherwise.
