Unmentioned Goof (Very funny to watch)

When John Wayne is on the porch with his niece and goes to show her the locket, he cups the cigar he's smoking in his hand. Unfortunately, he seems to forget it's lit, burns himself, winces and jerks his hand open. Now burning oneself isn't funny, but the fact that he played it off, never lost focus, and the footage was used is awesome. I laugh every time I see it. John Wayne was awesome.

Wow, you really have a keen eye for tiny details. I had to watch the scene again and I'll have to say I'm not at all surprised that I've missed it every time. I never would have noticed anything peculiar about it without you pointing it out. I guess it was slightly amusing, wouldn't call it exactly a goof though.

well....it's very simple....john wayne was a GREAT ACTOR.....in the film "hatari"......when red buttons comes into the bedroom with a tray of food for the female lead, he accidently steps on a tiger's tail.......the tray of food goes all over wayne......while the girl laughs her head off, both wayne and buttons stayed true to their characters, and made a goof into one of the funniest scenes in the film....they were A C T O R S..........not like most of the garbage that passes for actors today.

I agree. I have always liked this film very much. And I will look for that goof. But there is one that none has mentioned. In one of the first times that Wayne and Forrest Tuckers "Murphy" meet, when wayne hauls back and hits him, his hand goes back and knocks into the lens of the camera before he hits him. I have always thought that was a goof that none talks about.

I knew something happened at that moment but could never make out exactly what, I figured something went wrong with the watch cover opening on cue.

If I recall in The Sons Of Katie Elder during the fight scene with his brothers at their mother's house Duke accidently punched a door hurting his hand but he played out the scene
