A Glen campbell song?

Who sang the song- just before they packed up to ride off- about 1 hour into the movie? Was it Glen Campbell?

Agreed. And I'm a big Merle Haggard fan.

I routinely fast-foward through this scene when I watch this film.

Well, I have seen this film loads of time and always thought it was Glen Campbell. You learn something every day!

Yeah, it really does sound like Glenn Campbell, so I too was kinda amazed when I first found out it was Merle Haggard. Anyway, remember, this was 1970 - very period music for that time.

When I first saw the movie,I thought it was Campbell,it sounded like him,& he just co-starred with Wayne in TRUE GRIT.Merle Haggard was the singer,he also sang on Campbell's label,Capitol, hottest label of the 60's.In addition to those two, other stars on that label included Buck Owens,The Beatles,The Beach Boys,Sinatra,& Dean Martin.

I think I'd probably avoid a girl that had roses and wheat in her hair.

I thought the song was rather sweet. Yes it did sound like Glen Campbell.

I must admit I wondered for a while whether it could be Glen Campbell or maybe Harry Nilsson. Obliviously it wasn't either.
