laughably bad movie, but i love it for some reason. and hey, it includes a handy cure for autism... just hug 'em real tight for a real long time.

shareI think it's a sign of a good performer when you can watch them in a film you think is bad and enjoy them in it, even want to watch it again. Other people who pass that test for me are Harrison Ford and Sandra Bullock.
I disagree. I think it was a great movie. It actually had a plot, good writing, and good acting. I just wanted to see her leave the convent for him at the end.
shareFelt the same way. Laughably bad with a likable Presley as a singing/swinging doctor who works in a free clinic and the 3 ingognito nuns who work as nurses. Together they cure autism, revitalize a neighborhood by ridding it of corruption, violence and exploitation as well as breaking the old habits of the local church. And did I mention the attempted rape of one of the nuns at knifepoint by an unbalanced youth? All this with a few musical numbers and Moore in a G-rated film directed by William Graham who also directed the likably bad Honky(71).
shareGreat summation of the silliness of this movie, though I, too, enjoyed the ride.
It's a shame Elvis didn't live longer: he might have been able to conquer that world peace many of us wish to occur.
This movie combines elements of the typical Elvis musical formula, a religious theme & a social commentary. It wears too many hats & doesn't work & Elvis doesn't make much effort to get into his role. He's too relaxed & carefree & never gets his hands dirty.
It was hard to take him seriously as a doctor who breaks into a song because he's Elvis Presley, he's out of place & miscast. It's not laughably bad but it's not exceptionally good either.
For his last film it's a bit disappointing he's done better films than this.
