Ed Asner As the Chief Cop

I saw this movie a long time ago on ABC's late night movie and I just bought the DVD. It's a great flick and proof positive that Mr. Presley could in fact act.

What really caught my attention this time around was Ed "Mr.Grant" Asner as the Chief cop. I had no idea he was in this film with Moore.

Kind of a cute surprise.

i thougt the same thing!

Juno MacGuff: I named my guitar "Roosevelt"-not Ted, Franklin. You know, the cute one, with polio.

I was into the movie by then and I had to do a double take, I was hoping that we'd get to see a "Pre Mary Tyler Moore" scene between Ed Asner and Ms Moore

The trivia says that he and Mary never had any scenes together. Well, that's true in the sense of on screen.

But at the street party, the characters HAD to be together--in the same scene---not just "on camera".

I also have to wonder if, in different circumstances Asner would've done In the Heat of the Night instead of Carroll OConner?

PS-I think she stayed a nun. The church scene is the presentation of the gifts for Eucharist.
