4 out of 10 means crap. This film might be slightly mediocre (to some) but it is certainly not like a lot of junk they make today such as '300', which I believe has over 7. As usual stupid teenagers and immature 20-odds rule the ratings here.

no it doesnt. its a huge problem with our society that seems to misjudge the ratings. i mean people thing 8, which is "Great" is a "low" rating. 4 is bellow mediocre, 3 is crap, while 2 is awful and 1 is unwatchable.
imdb ratings are based on popularity contest. popular does not equal good, but its all opinions anyway, therefore you cant really blame people for like other things than you.

I totally agree and have made the same point many, many times. 7 is a good rating, yet people treat it as a low rating. 8 is most certainly an excellent rating.
The ratings were traditionally:
10 and 9: Phenomenal.
8: Great
7: Above average.
6: Average/good.
5: Slightly below average, mediocre.
4: Bellow average.
3: Crap.
2: Awful but slightly watchable.
1: Insanity inducing/uwatchable.

I could only give it a 4 star rating too, and I'm usually pretty generous in my ratings, I like B movies, I'm easily entertained, and receiving a 4 from me is generous, not very good, sorry.
