Anybody who sits completely thru this....

deserves what they get. Mind you, it's not all bad. We get a nice shot of a topless Sally Kellerman and a nice climax where the birdboy's physique gives out and he winds up a broken mess on the floor of the astrodome. Some small reward as it is for sitting thru this crap. There is a leftist clique out in Hollywood that expects the moviegoing masses to deify bizarre tripe like Brewster McCloud simply because they like it and therefore we are all naturally suppose to like it too. That arrogant clique likes to substitute their judgment and tastes for the whole of american moviegoers. They are that bunch of arrogant left-wing putzes who arrogantly like to think of themselves as the last word in cinema verite. Why did stootzes like Altman think that comedy had to be bizarre?

Settle down, Beavis.

I wish we could just "up vote" posts on IMDb.

I'd give this brief, funny, and to-the-point reply to the moronic OP an UP vote...or a "Like!"...or a thumbs up...or whatever.

Well done.

Thank you!

I'm glad we don't. Otherwise idiots like you would monopolize the imdb.

reply

I doubt very seriously anyone except for a very committed and unemployed troll could "monopolize" a site like IMDb. An "UP" vote would really, ultimately, only be a short comment; just another form of free expression. You can't possibly be opposed to free expression...can you?

I'm opposed to the one-sided approach you propose and that includes opinions that may not be popular or hip around here. The OP gave his sincere opinion of the film, so you and the other guy belittle him in a personal attack. Ok, but if you're going to dish it out then you should be able to take it in return.

That's my 'free expression...'

"Arrogant left-wing putzes who arrogantly like to think of themselves as the last word in cinema verite".

Hilarious.

"Why did stootzes like Altman think that comedy had to be bizarre?"

Altman wasn´t nearly as bizarre as our OP here, that´s for sure.

Anybody that's a true right-winger wouldn't sit through this movie, much less even hear of it. But if the OP is blasting the people for what he thinks they are, fine, he can go back to Oklahoma, Idaho, central California or wherever to his KKK meetings, cheap beer, Fox News, and hunting!

reply

If it isn't all bad, then no one deserves what they get for sitting through it. You want a bad Altman film, try Popeye!

Do they really expect that? Where exactly are they insisting that everyone must like it?

That arrogant clique likes to substitute their judgment and tastes for the whole of american moviegoers. They are that bunch of arrogant left-wing putzes who arrogantly like to think of themselves as the last word in cinema verite.

That's three "arrogants" in two consecutive sentences. Certainly indicates some kind of obsession, or projection. Or, trying a little too hard to ramp-up the 'outrage' in a trolling attempt-- which is what I suspect. But, if your rant actually is sincere: Why even care so much about what this alleged left-wing clique thinks? Just what have they done to you to hurt your feelings so badly? And how exactly are they "substituting" their judgment and tastes for everyone else's? You're substituting yours for theirs, too.

Do you find it very important to feel the comfort of Belonging-To-The-Great-Majority-Of-Americans, rather than feeling relegated to That Minority Of Weirdos? Since we're talking "left-wing", I'll mention that the desire for that kind of comfort has long been a common right-wing tendency.

Why did stootzes like Altman think that comedy had to be bizarre?

Why do you think it SHOULDN'T be? What are you afraid of?
