'Barf' bags

I have some original "Barf" bags for this film. They show a the same scene as the Poster but printed in reverse: A young woman with her tongue about to be ripped out.

Printed in red, the copy says: "the first film rated V for violence"
"Guaranteed to upset your stomach"
"Positivly the most horrifying film ever made"

I've got one of those!!!

Are they worth anything?

Oh, my GOD. I was in sixth grade when this picture came out. My best friend's parents got him in to see it and he brought the barf bag to class as a souvenir. I was so jealous. Over the years I'd forgotten the title of the film in question. And now... At last!!! At age 49!!!...

Ha...Ha..Ha...

Oh man, I remember the commercials and all the hype like yesterday! I was only 9 and was terrified of horror movies, so never would've seen it!

Aside from remembering the barf bags being given out, I remember another tag line "keep repeating to yourself, it's only a movie, it's only a movie" LMAO!

I remember another tag line "keep repeating to yourself, it's only a movie, it's only a movie"

That's from the 1972 version of Last House on the Left.

A few other movies as well. I think if you watch "American Grindhouse" (2010) they tell you all the times that tagline was used and by which films...

I remember those barf bags, too. I was ten at the time it came out, and couldn't get in...now I'm glad I didn't, lol.

You can get them in pretty much any bait shop in New England.

Friends of mine in grade school got the barf bags for this in it's first release; I wasn't able to see that and was sad I missed out.

A few years later, I went to see another horror film that barf bags were given out for...The Blind Dead. I noticed that bags had a sticker on them for TBD, and when I peeled it off, underneath it was a Mark Of The Devil bag! Guess they had a ton of them leftover from the initial release and were re-using them (and the gimmick) to clear them out. Anybody see any other films during the 70's that gave out barf bags?

"...and next time, don't forget the gravy!

I believe it started with Herschell Gordon Lewis films in the 60's, also used with Cannibal Ferox, The Beyond, Bad Taste and I'm sure others but that's all I can remember.

Scavolini's Nightmares In A Damaged Brain and Grau's Living Dead At Manchester Morgue (Let Sleeping Corpses Lie), if memory serves me correct...

I went to the US release in 1970 with some friends from the neighborhood. I can't believe our parents allowed us to go, what with all the over hyped nonsense and everything.

That sounds like a great gimmick. I wish they had fun and did creative gimmicks to get people in theaters like that today. Nowadays the best gimmick you'll get is 3D. I believe Lucio Fulci's Zombie gave out barf bags for the viewers as well.

Death lives in the Vault of Horror!

Funny story about the barf bags. My school had it's annual spring concert and was selling popcorn in those bags. Hilarious.
