And not just any Blu-ray release....but a Criterion release. I can't wait!

It's a shame that yet again we're not getting to see any of the unused footage. There's a crazy dream sequence where Kelly, wearing a Union Jack flag ensemble, has in which her dead mother (in a coffin) tells her to seek out her aunt Susan. Dolly Reed also played her mother using ageing effects makeup. Stills from this scene exist, as do stills from the motel room Kelly and the three others were sharing when she had this vision.
There was also a scene in which Casey, who has decided to get into movies, goes to a meeting with a casting agent who turns out to be a repugnant pig and tries to get her onto the "casting couch".
There was also a lot more sex and general nudity filmed but excised in an attempt to avoid an x rating.

The movie DID get an X rating upon its theatrical release in 1970. It was changed to NC-17 when it was released on VHS in 1993.

reply

Yes, it did get an X rating, but the previous poster is correct when he says that Russ Meyer took out a lot of material in hopes of getting an R rating. It didn't work....they gave him an X rating anyway.

The booklet has an obscene smell. Almost like a rotten food kind of smell. I noticed the booklet is a lot glossier than any release I've seen. I wonder if it's a chemical on the paper.
