Thats awesome. I remember that scene. Barquero is a great movie!! I managed to tape it off a cable channel since it was never released on video. So much better than the crap of today.

What happened to Marie Gomez, who disappeared after this movie?

i think your performance in "barquero", like everything else about this unfortunately now obscure and forgotten film, was of the highest calibre, and i would, further, like to know if you have any anecdotes to relate about working with warren oates, a consummate actor who i had the privilege of interviewing by phone several times, and to whom i sent a very lengthy letter in this regard, as he most generously agreed to be included as a subject for my book,"the villains", a study of the great villains of stage, film, and television. any such information will be greatly appreciated. again, a great job, and nice chatting with you. sincerely, perry j. zanett

What is the sound an imploding pimp makes?

Yes, I just saw you get shot a few minutes ago. I am writing as something struck me as strange. Knew Forrest Tucker, friend of the family, and Kerwin Mathews. Kerwin was one of my closest friends. Question: That does not sound like Forrest Tucker. Was he dubbed?

Just saw this movie on TV and enjoyed it.
I've always liked Lee Van Cleef's performances ever
since High Noon and wondered what he would be like in person.
Did you get to know him at all? If yes, what was he
like in person?

Did anyone recognize the woman in this scene?

She looks like someone I remember from this period, like maybe the "Billy Jack" movies.

Really great movie and I have it in my Direct TV keeper box. Nowadays they might not have cut away from Remi shooting you and the girl just like when he killed the prostitute. The Westerns until shortly before Barquero had their code of chivalry that did not allow the same degree of harm to be shown to women as men and sometimes that conflicted with reality. Remi had no sense of chivalry. Some standards in Westerns have changed and I won't attempt to say it is for the better or not. Equality of the sexes in movies today would have probably caused both scenes to be a few seconds longer. The other standout character was Nola who took a backseat to no one. In the old west, she would not have been the only woman on the barge shooting at Remi's gang. Wish she could have had more success in the movies unless she worked a lot in Europe.

I am not the sharpest tool in the drawer but it took me quite awhile to catch it that Lee Van Cleef was the good guy in his own way, as usual, more in this one than in any that I had seen before. A standout project for everyone in the movie. To all in Barquero who have departed this life; rest in peace.
