Pepe has life figured out!
Anyone who was that happy at being bound to a chair must know the secret to life.
But since he never spoke, we are all left in the dark.
I know, he seemed to have a lot of fun.
If you listen to the commentary on the DVD, Herzog talks about giving him the coin to break apart with his teeth and not to laugh or smile...but the guy can't do it.
He wouldn't have been happy if that glass would have fallen on his head though, some of it comes very close to his head!
Besides, if you look at the flimsy strings he was loosely bound with, its obvious he could have gotten out of the chair whenever he wanted to. He just chose not to.
