Did anyone else hate it?

I'm a big fan of Herzog's work but I just couldn't get into this at all. I think that whatever point it was making was just lost under the fact that it was quite dull and a bit annoying that laughing got very irrating. There were a few interesting scenes visually but it didn't make me *feel* anything or even think about much in the way his films normally do.

Has anyone else found this?

Sorry- I can't agree with you- just watched it and I loved it. Visually I thought it was a masterpiece- nearly every shot is set up beautifully- almost as if he was a photographer rather than a film-maker. There are parts of it where I thought he was perhaps being self-indulgent rather than getting on with the story but overall I'd personally rate it very highly. I admit that I'm not very familiar with his work, so perhaps it doesn't stand up to his other output, so I'm making my call on its own merits- and I loved it.

Agree with the maker of this thread. This movie is 100 % pretentious *beep* It talks for an hour in a half and actually doesn't say a damn thing. Haven't seen many of Herzog's films but plan on giving them a try.

Would have worked better as a short film IMO (no pun intended!). The imagary and symbolism was there but wasnt engaging enough to maintain the interest over the runtime. There are things to admire in the film but not sure many could say they actually enjoyed it

I didn't like it either. It had its bizarre moments, but asides from the shock factor, it was pretty boring.

I agree, this film was much too long. It should have been 20 minutes, not 96 minutes. Yes, the cinematography is beautiful but I need more than nice cinematography to carry me through a film. 96 minutes of dwarfs destroying things does not a good movie make. I love all of Herzog's other films though.

I'm amazed to read these thoughts, this film completely blew me away in every regard. I've never seen anything like it, it was beautiful, dangerous and hilarious wrapped into one. Some scenes in the film are not only the most amazing sequences I've seen in a film, but really, some of the most amazing things I've seen at all, ha. LOVE it!
