One of the worst movies in the Disney animated canon

A stinker.

The geese and the stupid redneck dogs were some of the worst characters in Disney thus far, and O'Malley was just a lame Baloo retread.

The villain was dumb, and couldn't really care for the plight of the protagonists either.

Below par animation, forgettable songs, boring plot.

Only Dinosaur and Chicken Little, and perhaps The Three Caballeros are worse than this, and that's including the rest of the anthologies from the forties.

Yes. I just sat through this for the first time since I was about six or seven and found it alarmingly poor. The 'Everybody Wants to be a Cat' sequence is fun, but that's about it for a lumpy, poorly animated and utterly charmless film. It's like they didn't even try, just throwing in lazy retreads of characters and situations from earlier Disney movies.

Well, this movie was made during the Dark Age of Animation.
So in 1970, even a powerhouse like Disney had to cut some corners to make a profit.
And there was no way, that they could afford to make their movies as pretty as they were during the Golden Age.
So I don't believe that it's fair to complain about the animation.
You wouldn't be able to make a better cartoon anywhere else at the time.
And as for the rest of your criticism, those are just your opinions.

I got so bored watching this as a kid, I couldn't even finish it.

same, I saw it as a kid and was bored silly and started playing monopoly or something like that if i remember correctly lol

I just watched it today and I thought it was okay. I liked it. Not the strongest effort but worth a watch.

The cats were fun and cute, the dogs were funny, the villain was a dumb confident buffoon, and the old lawyer was charming.

And I kind of like that crappy animation. It looks more organic and less-polished.

I vaguely remembered liking it as a kid, I still like animated films as an adult, so I tried watching it now that I've got Disney Plus.

I couldn't finish it, it was completely boring! Definitely not one of those animated films that can be appreciated by adults, this was utterly dull and strictly for kids. Kids with pedestrian tastes.
