Anyone know where this movie was filmed?

I know probably California but if so, where/what area... watching now & looks like could be somewhere in Arizona, maybe Tucson... just wondering as I'm in Az. Maybe it says at end of film since does not mention in IMDB info here. Thanks if anyone ads info for me :)

we live in Mesa AZ and we believe this may have been filmed in and around Apache Junction and Goldmine AZ (east of Phoenix)

reply

Good call. I lived in Mesa for a year and when Angel pulled up to the biker bar, it looked like Apache Junction.

at the beginning theres a train they hide on that says Tempe AZ on it- right at the beginning befire the intro song...

It's probably not California. Those mesas look more like New Mexico or Arizona.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

reply

Definitely AZ. No saguaros in New Mexico, and very few in California. Also, I'm pretty sure those were the Superstition Mountains in the background. That would put the location near Apache Junction.

It looks like the Mesa/Apache Junction area of Arizona. Some of the roads look like Apache Trail near Apache Lake and Usery Pass Rd near Saguaro Lake. The river scene looks like the Salt River. I grew up there when this movie was filmed and Cowboys were already the minority by the 1970's.

Also the scene at the Lehi Market was filmed in Lehi which is a distinct community within Mesa Arizona. Lehi is adjacent to the Salt River on the north, the Consolidated Canal to the south, and a portion of Arizona State Route 202 runs through the area. It also borders the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, and has a long history with that community. Lehi started as a Mormon colony that predates Mesa.
