Song played in movie - HELP!

I just watched this movie for the first time on TV yesterday (one of the earliest movies I've seen of Tyne Daly, besides The Enforcer) and there's a song that played at around the 39 minute mark of the film where Angel leaves the commune to go ask for help from his biker buddies. The song goes like, "it seems that I've lost my way, my life is a sad despair(?)." Anyone know the name of the song and the performer? I've typed the lyrics into google with no such luck as well as the singer Randy Sparks, whose name was mentioned in the soundtrack. The song has such a pretty tune.

Randy Sparks should be reachable -- he was closely associated with the New Christy Minstrels, and they were active again a few years ago. He also recorded a solo album for MGM Records around that time, I believe, which isn't easy to find, and the song may well be on that.
