It's kind of a milder precedent to the Texas chainsaw Massacre when you think about it.

The first time we done knocked on the do, the second time we gon kick the son of a bitch in

From the trailer on the DVD, I was expecting something a little nastier and scarier. It didn't really venture out past Lifetime movie channel mode. Once the girl disappears, the movie kind of sputters and starts to feel aimless. I like slow-burning movies, but this one was a little too slow and not enough spark. The opening and closing 15 minutes of the film are its best times.

I usually don't like remakes, but I hope the 2010 remake improves upon the source material.

Are you serious? This is nothing like a so-called Lifetime movie! (Plus it was made at least 20 odd-years before the Lifetime channel even existed.) There are some genuinely creepy scenes (when the surviving woman hides from the cop in the shack) for one thing. I like the fact that it's not flashy or loud, and how the gradual horror of the surviving woman's situation gradually creeps up on her throughout the film.

I thought it was really tense and enthralling. Good horror, which proves you don't need loads of gore to make a good creepy thriller.
