anyone know where the title comes from?

Sounds like a quote, but I can't trace it.
And if it's not a quote, I can't see much point in it.

Thank you Rafael. Interesting that you found solid evidence regarding the origin of the title. I did some research, without luck, so decided to ask a human being rather than a computer for a change. Something of a risk, I admit, knowing full well the lack of graciousness of many humans.

My problem with the title is that it is so far from relating to the content of the film - being apparently the same kind of baleful pseudo-poetry as "Night Must Fall" - that I can hardly believe the film-makers would stoop to using it if it wasn't actually a quotation.

Good film, stupid title.

Good morning federovsky..

What did rafael say to upset the administrator?

Because I wanted to know his answer..

This was the first thread I came to, in fact it was one of the things I went to the board to find out.
As you say. it has 'this is a quote' writ large, but with a slight feeling of it being a faux quote

(I also feel it should be hyphenated as in 'And soon - The darkness')

I was hoping to get an answer too, can someone tell me what was in Rafael's post?

Thanks :)

IF we think about it Dusty ... no -one is likely to tell us are they .. I mean,if it was SO BAD to get deleted the first time.. who will risk the wrath of the administrator to repeat it?

Quite interesting that you thought it was a bad title. I came on the boards specifically to state how I believe the title to be the best part of both this film and the remake. There is incredible mystery and poignancy within it, and does not need to be a part of a quote at all to make its impact or make sense. In fact, the fact that there is a feeling of something missing from the title increases the dread, which is nothing short of genius.

Whether it comes from a quote or not, the title is an intriguing way to suggest impending tragedy; in other words, everything's pleasant, but something terrible will happen.
