when will this be released on dvd?

The industry needs to release the dvds of the big stars before the were big. Who agrees? WE NEED THIS MOVIE ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that it should be released on DVD, BUT it should be noted that most of teh film was made in Excelsior Springs, and not Cameron. I know because I was an extra in the movie, and it was filmed in the Robichaude Mansion two house away from where I lived!

Addressing the comment about the odd ending of "Adam," I think I can shed some light on it. As the commenter pointed out, the Michael Douglas character throws away his new life in small town Missouri to return to good old L.A. Since this was a Steve McQWueen-produced film -- and he had his hands all over it -- it's obvious to me that it was McQueen's final put-down of the small Missouri town he grew up in and ran away from, despising its warped middle-class values. Ironically, Slater, MO, now has an annual "Steve McQueen Days" festival honoring the star who would not honor them. This is the first script by this writing team and I'm sure McQ had a lot of input -- as he always did with any project he produced. Probably why the story didn't have to make dramatic sense. It just felt good thumbing his nose it his hometown. Still an interesting film from a great actor. I remember going to Orrick, MO, when it was being filmed. Didn't see him, but I tracked down his green Bullitt Mustang hidden in a backyard.

I always thought the ending of ADAM AT 6 A.M. meant Adam came to the realization that the people he met in Missouri turned out to be just as conventional in their thinking as the people he left behind in LA. He didn't think they would be the same, but they were; only the surroundings were different.

That's what I took from the finale.

The ultimate disappointment was more than he could deal with.

I agree. People are essentially the same wherever you go.

I need to watch it again to re-evaluate it as I was very young when I saw it the first time. But I've talked about it on occasion with my dad. The final scene....lol

I'll just say we have an inside joke in our family, when someone isn't appreciated or getting the attention they deserve we say they've "been sent for vanilla."

Where is the Bullitt mustang now? I read McQueen tried to buy it but was refused, and the car was in New Jersey.

This film was released on VHS, many moons ago. Circa 2005, it was announced for Paramount DVD, but sadly never saw the light of day.

I'm surprised that it never seems to play on TV, especially with all of the channels and networks devoted to old movies.
