This movie NEEDs a DVD release!!! Help!!

Okay, hopefully SOMEONE out there will read this, and if so please respond with any comments! Sharon Tate is my favorite and this, her last movie, is my favorite movie. I have the VHS copy but this DESERVES a great DVD release. In fact, all Sharon's movies do, but I'm fond of this one in particular. I know there's probably a small group out there who would like this to happen also. I know there was a petition at some point to get her film "Fearless Vampire Killers" to come out on DVD, but I don't know what became of that. I am DESPERATE for an amazing deluxe DVD edition of this little-known film! I just LOVE it!

Anyone with anything to add to this, please talk to me!!! Thanks!

I absolutely agree--and not only a small group would like this movie to be widely available--if you check out the message boards of Sharon's official site as well as every fan site in her honour, you will find EVERYBODY wants a copy! One can go to eBay and pick up a pirated dvd dubbed from the only time the movie ever came out on video (in 1986!), but considering the entire cast--amazing, even today-- as well as looking at the picture from a historical standpoint (sadly, Sharon never lived to see this movie, arguably her best performance on screen),it would do very well as a sell through title if promoted properly.

..........If it's any consolation, another of Sharon's movies, "The Wrecking Crew" (co-starring Dean Martin)is coming out on DVD soon. But it will be part of a package of 4 of Dean Martins' "Matt Helm" series of films.

I would even welcome a chance to get a VHS copy of this. I own
"Valley" and "Vampire Killers," but have only seen this available
in the VHS formate at extortion prices.

It's a shame for this to be unavailable.

Keep trying ebay. I got an original VHS copy off there a while ago. It pops up now and then, either in the "12+1" version (which I have) from Continental Video, or the "13 chairs" version, which is in one of those big, bubble boxes, not sure of the label though. If you can get ahold of either of those, they're probably your best bet. :)

On Ebay you can snag a copy that has been transferred from VHS onto a disc. I just bought a copy for around $16.00 and the quality was good except for the Dutch subtitles, but I had always wanted to see Sharon's last movie. I was rather disappointed in this farce especially after her wonderful performances in VOD and the Wrecking Crew. However, she was no doubt one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the silver screen. I am rather fond of Barbara Parkins cool beauty...but Sharon epitomized the 60's chick

This film and "Don't Make Waves" are the two remaining films starring Sharon that have not at least been considered for a DVD release (Valley Of The Dolls, Fearless Vampire Killers, and The Wrecking Crew have all been released, while Eye Of The Devil is upcoming and can be voted for at amazon.com). I hope that means that these other two underrated gems will be released too - and her A&E Biography should either be available to be bought separately or be included as a special feature on one of the DVDs.

Just got it on eBay for $29.99 including shipping. It's the 'big box' edition from Force Video.

It does show up but you have to be patient.

Begin rant...

It would be a great day if the MPAA would permanently shut down all bootlegging outfits. I know I'm very idealistic but it's still good to envision that day.

End rant.

If studios are going to let desirable movies collect dust way past their date of marketability, and then let them just rot without the fans being able to have them, it's just wrong. So what if it's not profitable to NEVER re-release them on DVD and the fans trade a few copies here and there, who does it hurt? The studio was never gonna release it anyway, so it's no skin off their nose. Another example of the "victimless crime"...

reply

Yeah, sure, we'll just destroy the collectors' market with your stance. Brilliant!

Is there anyway someone can post this movie on youtube?

reply

There is a legal release of this in Italy. Of course, it's in the PAL format. If you are able to watch PAL films, then you can order it from a quality Ebay Italian seller or elsewhere.

Whole sections of this movie are now on YouTube (in the wrong aspect ratio, but better than nothing) -- it is a good sampler for those who haven't seen the movie and if it actually does get a bluray or dvd release, it will be a minor miracle.

The Italian version is available on Amazon Germany, with an Italian soundtrack, no English subtitles or English soundtrack:
