I recall that the movie credits were not for the town of colusa however the fictional county was colusia in the movie, I have a copy and will watch the credits again, have watched dozens of times since first scene at the drive in in 1970

This is true. It was filmed in Colusa, CA. My father, born and raised in Colusa, was actually an extra in the film.

My father and two of my uncles were in as extras also and I have pictures of being held as a baby(I was 6mo old) by George Kennedy, Jim Brown and Don Stroud. A lot of the filming was done in Colusa and Meridian(nearby town).

My mom was there too, tho not an extra, she played chess w/Jim Brown and I was just barely one and he held me for awhile. ?

This is true! my father was an extra in this movie while he lived in Colusa, many years ago! I saw it on t.v. and was able to point out certain places in town, kinda cool!

definitely filmed in our little town of Colusa, California. I remember watching it being filmed. The sign on the courthouse lawn was a gift from the filmakers, the sheriff's office is where the City PD office is now (it was the library then)... my husband's grandpa is one of the old guys sitting on the benches and watching the egg fry on the sidewalk... I'll have to watch it again!

Well I live in colusa now. Im in 8th grade and have yet to see it.
Any copies anywhere?

As I wrote on the other message, they show it on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) channel from time to time, it's in their regular rotation. If you have that channel, you could see it there.

It's a classic, so most "classics" tv-channels should be showing it now and then. Check the local showing times.

Yes it was filmed here in Colusa, California in Colusa County. This town has hosted many movie shoots, Two versions of Tom Sawyer, Gypsy Moths, Member of the Wedding, The Warlord and many more. The are no towns or counties named Colusa in the South but here in lovely Northern California we exist ?
