I used to watch this toon as a kid and I remember a song 'The Monster Mash' possibly?? What episode or where did I hear this tune being played? Thank you in advance!!

I love me, do you love you?

reply

"The Monster Mash" was a song by Bobby "Boris" Pickett. I can`t remember it from the show, although some of the Groovie Ghoolies songs are somewhat like it in style :-)

I watched the show a lot and I don't remember the monster mash being sung.

It was being pumped into pop culture at that time on childrens albums with monsters on the cover. They were playing musical insturments.

Awww man, I bought the DVD collection b/c I was trying to remember why that song is stuck in my head. OK, does the mummy ever unravel in an ep? I am having trouble remember this show except for where they are all at their instruments playing. It is the only show with these same characters in it around that time period right?!?!? So lost.... and about to go sell this DVD set because at today's age, it is boring me. Sorry.

Thanks loads to both of you for your help.

I know what you are saying. I remeber it was so cool when I was six. I couldn't wait to see it in my 30's. I was amazed how awful it was as an adult.

I wasrecently reading up on animation history. I guess a lot of amazing animators worked on that series for money. So they could do there own projects on the side.

I didn't know the dvd was on the market.

Where did you buy it ?

I may be interested in finding it.

reply

Yes, the DVD has been on the market it seems. Saturday Mourning Ghoulies is the title, I think. It's downstais now but you can find it on Ebay and Amazon too. I want to sell my copy, you want to buy it let me know. I only took the plastic off of one DVD and of course the entire 3 DD case box too. I watched maybe 3 eps and am sadly dissapointed with it.

When My friend found the sixteen MM copys of several episodes. I was so excited because I loved that
show was I was 6 years old.

My friend Dennis ran a movie theater so he agreed to screen them. I was so excited I ran out and told
all my friends.

Then whem he ran them I was disapionted and embaressed.

I will think about buying your copy for nostalgia purposes but I have been very broke broke lately.

If you can't rid of it in a few weeks, lets talk.

Thanks

When you are ready Steve, do your homework in figuring how much you want to pay vs. what prices you've researched. My discord can be your nostaligic moment.

BTW - sorry for the typos in my last post to you.

I ordered mine from DeepDiscountDVD.com and paid $16.32 for it (includes free shipping). The official title of the set is: 'Groovie Goolies - The Saturday "Mourning" Collection'. Just search for 'groovie goolies' and you'll find it.

I was born in 1970 and can barely remember watching this show in the early 70's when I was maybe 3 or 4 years old. I also had some pvc plastic figures of these characters. Man I wish I had them now so I could see them again. Looking forward to watching the dvd's.

it is possible you are confusing this with a VERY similar movie called "MAD MONSTER PARTY".... it had a scene of monsters dancing and the skeleton band played some songs like 'hey, mr. mummy'
"Dance to the left and the right, all wrapped up in himself tonight......heeeeeyyy, mr. mummmy...", VERY rockin' sixties music, had boris karloff's voice doing dr. frankenstien, and phyliss diller as the monster's mate-
it was a 'stop-motion' animation made by rankin-bass.

I remember a song from the cartoon that was a hit, of sorts, called "Chicka Boom" (chicka boom, chicka boom, don't ya just love it) I don't think the lp or single is avaiable anymore.
