Steamed celery

Jumbled cluck
Champagne served from a bullhorn

reply

(I loved when Oscar read the back of the opera card)

An apple, pickle, can opener and invisible baked Alaska.

reply

Banana flambé
Multiple cakes made by a budding opera singer
Beer with orange juice ( kills the vitamin C)

reply

Meat...Meat...Gravy.
A fake hot dog on a bun.

reply

mayonnaise - it's a known fact Lincoln loved it! And they serve it at The White House, with everything!

reply

Good one!

A large cake with the simple "Happy Birthday, Edna" on it.

reply

Chopped liver decorated as a football

reply

Again! You're good.

Pilsner beer glasses with a wristwatch inside.

reply

Thank you:) So are you!

Spaghetti with mashed potatoes (Oscar likes carbs with his carbs)

reply

Thanks!

I'd love to list the type of cake that Felix was trying to bake when Oscar angrily breaks into a tap dance. The irony is my daughter is a professional baker!

reply

Well doesn't she watch the Odd Couplr??

...a big salty pretzel consumed while on a date with a Princess

reply

We do get along like, well...Oscar and Felix.

A heart shaped candy dish with chocolates.

reply

I kind of remember that too, are you sure it was a cake, not a soufflé ??

Hmmmm....I got almost nothing here..oh!

Whitefish! Is it supposed to make a noise ?

reply

I think you're right, yeah. I loved how Oscar went into an exaggerated tapdance. He did something similar when Felix asked him not to wear his cleats on the carpet.

Thin field here...

Blackmarket sandwiches purchased from a raincoat off an elderly cruise.

reply

Is that when he was dancing on the coffee table and Felix was freaking out? Hee hee

Salami and jelly sandwiches

reply

Mango

Once there was a man named Oscar, Oscar, Oscar! And he turned on his best friend, Oscar, Oscar, Oscar!

reply

"We made it again!" (kisses the floor)

I think it was the one with Fake Edna trying her hand at being an Umpire. He's leaving his room and breaks out while walking back. They used to play the show in MeTV and I'd watch it getting ready for work.

Price-gauged sandwich on a broken subway car. "Eight dollars!!"

reply

Good one! And at the end Felix gives Oscar a puppy, which we never see again.

Here we only get one episode a week on Sunday night on MeTv after Columbo (another favorite of mine) and before Honeymooners (also a favorite)! When we used to get the New York channel 11 they showed Odd Couple all the time!

On topic:

Toast that isn't too dark
Eggs that aren't too loose
(Prepared by your ex-wife)
Added bonus , don't soak the bowl and enrage Felix! Hee hee!

reply

Bottled beer with a nipple on it for a sense of security!

reply

I'm dying as I thought I was the one with a good memory! My sister got me into the show when I was around 10 and I shaped my worldview around Oscar Madison. Rhoda was another one that just bled late '70's NYC.

Poorly prepared Japanese food. (I loved when Felix yelled at the guy in his own language)

reply

I've seen it a lot, I bought the whole series on DVD a few years ago, really always was a show I never get tired of!

On topic:
Chow fun (sp?) prepared for a Chinese professional wrestler

Also bagels and rocks/lox purchased by same wrestler

reply

They had the entire 1st season on Youtube, but it got taken down. I used to watch it on a laptop at an elderly home I was working part time at. I wonder if it's on blu ray.

One more aside: I never knew if that was meant to be a "professional" wrestler (as in WWE) or an amature doing an exhibition fight. It would be funny to see a weigh in these days.

Pizza for an eating contest, crusts required.

reply

I don't know, did you check Amazon?

I always had the impression that wrestler was a "real" wrestler, not WWF or the like. Perhaps an Olympian?

I don't know where to ask this, but when reading/posting from my phone, after a thread gets a certain length, I can't read it any further. In other words, the "show next twenty" stops coming up. Does anyone know how to fix this??

On topic: hamburgers prepared by a monk

reply

I think Wals had regular DVD's like cheap. The whole wrestling thing is weird because legit, mat based wrestling is somehow considered Amateur while pre-determined, scripted wrestling is Professional. I think the Japanese champ was representing Japan as a Roman-Greco style shoot wrestler. And we was also on Barney Miller (ha ha). I did notice the replies get smaller in size. IMBB is strange as I've this is my 3rd account since the mid-00's. I go on sometimes and it's just gone.

Hastily made cold cuts made for a high stakes poker game. I actually did that once when I found out a bunch of friends were coming over quickly.

reply

The episode summary just says Oscar covering an international wrestling exibition. I think the character was representing China, he had Miss Hong Kong with him.

Hmmm, that's not exactly what I mean, it's like after x number of pages, I can't go any further? I'll have to see if it happens with the laptop. Oh and sometimes I have to sign in over and over and over.

Unbuttered popcorn at a fat farm

reply

I've got 2 that I'm not sure if are from the TV series or the original movie

A turkey leg stuffed in the couch cushions
Ramaki (sp?) at poker night
A plate of linguini thrown against the wall (from movie)

Fresh bread baked by O and F being monks

reply

I was going to use the Ramaki one, but wasn't sure how to spell it (or what it is, for that matter!)

Something special from Béarnaise Barbera. If you can tell me her real last name and what the secret ingredients were, you'll will the first ever Odd Couple April Fool World Food Championship.

reply

Barbara Arcola
Dry mustard and a cup of beer

reply

I always felt a little bad for her, but Oscar's love of the electric knife made up for it.

A loaded burrito pointed straight at your heart.

reply

Oh, I didn't feel sorry for her. She stole Felix's recipe, tried to take advantage of the fact that Oscar was trying to take advantage of her, and she won the cooking contest because of Felix being honest!

Romaki is a Greek kabob thing. You said it
upthread, was that when they turned the heat up to try to sweat the poker players
out?
I got nothing right now, must think.....?

reply

True. Maybe it was she did confess at the end and owned up to it. That seems almost rare these days. I did love that heat sceene when Murray replies that he's just a "hot Jewish cop". The supporting cast on that show was just amazing.

Uhhhh......Ummmmmm.....

Rump Roast (you are what you eat)

reply

I liked when they were trying to vote to end the game, the one guy said "I'm not voting! I'm neutral, like Switzerland"
Other guy - "yeah and you got all the money, like Switzerland!" He he!

Hmmm.....hiding the dice made out of sugar cubes when caught. "Eat the dice!"
"I can't! I'm diabetic!"

reply

Sand dabs
Canned squid

reply

Speed was one of my all time favorite secondary characters as I used to play cards virtually non-stop in my youth. He even had a little scene when they all had to keep Oscar calm and he breaks into this poker story when he was about 10 years old. The monk one, too, perfect dialog:

"I remained in my room, eyes shut"
Oscar: "And he's the social director!"

Bar Peanuts (which Oscar spills before talking to Dacaon Jones)

reply

(Felix lectures the help about how messy it looks)

reply

^^where? At the bar? I thought they implied it wasn't messy because Oscar hadn't been in yet, lol
Hell, Felix even complained in COURT because the witness stand was messy!

Jar of olives for Gloria
Milk and cookies for Murray, also homemade cookies for an off Broadway nude actress
Chocolate candy for Oscar's mother

reply

You may have just answered an long time "did I see it or was I dream it" Odd Couple moment. I SWEAR I remember a scene when the bartender tells Felix that Oscar hadn't arrived because there wasn't a bowl of peanuts spread across the bar. One half of me remembers Oscar showing up in a semi-rush and immediatey elbowing the bowl everywhere. The other half remember him arriving to a somewhat ticked off Felix.

Bathtub! That was hilarious. "Felix, I work at the library. Felix, I work at the Biology section..."

Uh...Chocolate for Leonard, bad complexion or not.

reply

No, are remembering correctly! I think Felix shows up first, it's not messy yet, no beer on the floor, no peanuts on the bar. Oscar is late, Deacon leaves before Oscar arrives spilling the peanuts. Felix is angry and puts Oscar's new watch in a glass of beer.

Spring Cola for a photo shoot with Howard Cosell!

reply

Bathtub - "do you have a library CARD?" Lol!

reply

Gray spaghetti eaten over the sink with tweezers. Roast beef carved with a switch blade. Also a roast kicked out the window.

reply

MAS enchiladas.
MAS tacos. MUCHO mas tacos. ("I suppose you don't realize the reason Mexico never became a world power is because of their food?")

Some kind of ... BLACK MEAT!

Brownies for the football team, especially if they perfect the Inverted W formation. (Chubby liked the brownies enough to vote for Felix to stay as coach.)

reply

Good ones!

I never understood why Felix keep letting the meat cook after it was done until it was ruined, when Oscar was late for dinner? And he did it a lot! It`s not like the guilt trip worked on Oscar, or he would have minded eating cold meat.

reply

Do Bolivian chickens count as food? They say they're growing them as big as turkeys. (I just can't help this CRAZY sense of humor of mine.)

Coke and Bacardi for the "Rum and Cola Flight."

reply

A wild goose in the woods, if you are lucky enough to catch one.
"Duck, goose!!" Otherwise, it's nuts and berries.

reply

Crackers and Manischewitz Wine for those times your locked in your basement in full costume.

"My whole marriage is shot to hell!"
"At least you're dressed for it."

reply

For beverages one should offer freshly squeezed orange juice without pits and a freshly made frappe {I'll frappe your face}

This show is my all time favorite of ALL TIME. It even beats out Game of Thrones.

reply

Oscar played hung-over like nobody else! Watch when Felix enters his room and hands him a frappe. His look of shock, anger and confusion was perfect.

reply

Pastrami, mini meatballs, saurkraut and melted Philly cream cheese on onion bagels. 😁

reply

A bag of potato chips, emptied directly onto the coffee table.
A bottle of sleeping pills, with only one pill and a piece of cotton to clean your ears.

reply

A 50 dollar sandwich and some fondue with forks that have different colored tips.

reply

"This is a fraudulent fondue fork!"

"Two gin and Frescas"
"Shaken, not ridiculed"
