Season 2, Episode 8

Here it's listed as approximately 50 minutes long. Yet on MeTV tonight 7/12/16 they are showing this episode and it's only a half hour long, and that will include commercials. Hmm, seems MeTV is completely gutting this show. Why? At 50 minutes for the original running time that would've an hour long show with commercials back in 1971.

It's not Me-TV's doing. In it's original format, "Night Gallery" was an hour-long show comprised of episodes with several segments. They were usually two long segments with two shorter ones. When the series was sold into syndication, they segments were taken apart and sold as individual episodes. If you look carefully, you'll see that some episodes will use footage from other Universal Studios movies and TV shows ("Big Surprise", for example, uses footage from "The Birds". "The Housekeeper" had scenes from "Frankenstein"). Others are reedited and repeat scenes. These scenes were added so that those segments would fill a 30-minute time slot. The unedited episodes can be seen on Hulu and on DVD.

Ugh-- you really want to see an awful editing job -- check out Logoda's Heads. They threw in everything but the kitchen sink to pad that one out. It's really uneven.

Also-- Shrunken heads don't have teeth!!!

I know! They had scenes of African natives then scenes of South American Indians (I just saw the movie where the South American Indians came from: "Curucu, Beast of the Amazon"). I remember having a toy that could make replicas of shrunken heads. Little did I know the history of them !

was this the toy? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shrunken-Head-Apple-Sculpture-1975-Vincent-Price-Crafts-By-Whiting-Milton-Bradle-/232008897771?hash=item3604ced4eb:g:doMAAOSwzLlXgU7U

I remember when I was about 7 or 8, my parents took me to the Museum of the American Indian. They had not only shrunken heads, but shrunken bodies of some unlucky guys who were explorers. Needless to say, I was totally weirded out and had nightmares. So much for taking your kids to museums for educational experiences.

Interesting. Was there a heating element involved? I remember they had similar kits for girls to make things like flowers (naturally in the 1960's).
