Theodore J. Flicker passed away Sept. 12, in his sleep, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was 84.
He wrote and directed a number of episodes of Night Gallery (1969), but viewers will best remember him as the hilariously effete Devil in "Hell's Bells," with John Astin (House - With Ghost/A Midnight Visit to the Neighborhood Blood Bank/Dr. Stringfellow's Rejuvenator/Hell's Bells (1971)).
A very talented man, he will be missed.

Yes, he was extremely talented. He also directed for "Man From U.N.C.L.E.", co-created "Barney Miller", and was responsible for the cult favourite, "The President's Analyst".

shareI read in the NIGHT GALLERY book that legendary cinematographer LIONEL ("Curly") LINDON had some kind of blind, unreasonable hatred of Ted Flicker! The book also mentions at least one other instance where young RADAMES PERA (most notable as "young Caine" on KUNG FU) also raised the mysteriously arbitrary ire of Mr. Lindon! The NIGHT GALLERY book I speak of was INSANELY good!

It would have been cool if Flicker, and not Steven Spielberg, had directed the "Make Me Laugh" episode, if only to be working together with Godfrey Cambridge and Severn Darden again (see "The President's Analyst").
