poor broadcasting team

mike tirico, joe thiesman, and tony kornhieser come on they are no MNF broadcast team

I agree. ESPN finagles the biggest game in football short of the playoffs and this is what they deliver?

At least that uber-douche Paul Maguire ain't in the booth.

They need JAWS

Compared to Madden and Summerall that is an allstar broadcast team. Madden has been less than lucid for about 10 years. He spent the later part of the 90's saying over and over "the ground can not cause a fumble" until some finally pointed out that it can if a defender didn't touch the ball carrier on the way down. I'm a Redskin fan and had to watch the Cowboy game with no sound on because I could not take it anymore. He kept mentioning how the Cowboy's offensive penalties kept killing the drive momentum. Up to that point the Cowboy's offense had produced a total of 1 first downs and never had two consecutive plays with positive yardage. What momentum did they have before that comment?

It's time to put Madden to sleep and hand Pat another bottle of whiskey and hand over prime time football to some fresh faces.

I use to not be a big Madden fan myself back in the 80's and 90's, but I've come to respect and actually enjoy listening to Madden. The man knows football and him and Michaels do a great job. Of the current trio though on MNF, the only one that I just cannot tolerate is Tony Kornhieser. I actually liked Pardon the Interruption with him on it, but wow, he is not a commentator. He's almost as annoying as Dennis Miller was. All he does is make assumptions and innuendo. He'll also ask Theisman for his opinion every 2 minutes. I hope he's not on the show next year.

Yeah. Jow Buck should do everything. And by everything, I mean, EVERY *beep* BROADCAST TILL TIME STANDS STILL FOR THE SUN TO ENGULF JUPITER AND CAUSE A GAS EXPLOSIN THAT ERADICATES THE KNOWN UNIVERSE. Joe Buck is the best commentator around, really. He + Terry Bradshaw are enough of a casting team for me.

reply

Buck has the same problem as Tirico. He's bland. He might do an OK job though as long as he doesn't bring his world series sidekick Tim Mcarver. I can't stand that douche bag.

reply

No, Al Michaels should do everything!! He's the best in sports bar-none. Jim McKay was great but he's not doing much anynore.

ESPN getting the MNF contract will officially kill the institution. They let their biases get in the way too often, I can't stand that horrid network.

reply

I really can't figure it out with allll the talent in commentators that ESPN has (especially in their countdown team) they couldn't get a single one of them to at least color commentate or something. I've got nothing against the 3 of them but as has been said they aren't MNF quality - especially not Kornheiser who is great on PTI but nothing else.
