What happened to the movie version?

Some time ago I heard that John Hannah was going to be in a new movie version of this wonderful childrens TV series. Does anyone know what happened to this project?

A movie would ruin it, I'm sure

I heard that John Hannah was unwell for a while but that was about a year ago! A film probably would ruin it but it could never be as bad as what they did to The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy!

Wasn't Robbie Williams supposed to play Mr Benn, all I can say if that was the plan then I'm happy it's not being made.

Boy, who knew a cooler could also make a handy wang coffin?
