Goodies repeat on BBC2

I've just seen in a listings guide that a Goodies episode ("Winter Olympics")will be repeated on BBC2 next Saturday (4 March) at 7.10. This must be the first repeat on terrestrial TV for about 20 years - let's hope it's the first of many!

The last proper Goodies repeat on BBC was 'Kitten Kong' in 1985, shown as part of BBC2's 21st anniversary celebrations. Although I saw a few episodes when I was very young (I was born 1974), it was this episode that got me hooked and led me to check out their records, books etc, and finally the BBC videos in '96 and the Network DVDs. Fantastic.

I was born in 1979, and that 1985 repeat of Kitten Kong was the first time I ever saw The Goodies. I saw many of the later episodes (from the last two BBC series, which I didn't think were all that good) on The Comedy Channel in the 90s, but I have really enjoyed the ...At Last! DVD, as it finally gave me an opportunity to watch earlier, funnier episodes. Hopefully, the success of the reunion show at Christmas has now encouraged BBC2 to launch a series of classic repeats.

You can't deny Saturday Night Grease, that is a classic! From what I've heard the LWT series was pretty poor though.

Milligan's Q6 (followed by Q7, 8 etc) wasn't that great in my opinion. I think a lot of people only tuned in to see Julia Breck's (admittedly impressive!) cleavage. I wanted to like the series but a lot of it was self-indulgent and unfunny.
The 'Winter Olympics' episode was brilliant in patches but there were a few slow spots, I've just e-mailed the BBC to thank them anyway - first Goodies repeat in 21 years on the BBC must be celebrated! I hope there'll be a third Network DVD, with 'Goodies Rule OK' as the main attraction. I love that episode!
I run a website BTW, http://www.bringbackthegoodies.uk.tt
