Alternative opening titles ??

Hopefully someone can answer this, because my memory seems to be playing tricks on me.
I'm pretty certain I saw reruns of Budgie around the mid 80's, in colour, with different opening titles than the B/W ones, during which a short scene of Adam Faith walking out of a Tube Station (One of the Hounslow's) is shown.
So when I got hold of the episodes recently, I found that they are all in b/w, and opening titles that I dont remember.
Did I see an updated version with newer titles? Or am I thinking or another programme?
I am 99.9% sure that it was Adam Faith and that the show was Budgie, and it looked very early 70's.
From IMDB I can't wee what other prog it could have been.
It's driving me nuts because I could swear I know what I saw !!

I'm pretty sure it switched to colour after a short while - I also could be dreaming but I think the B/W was due to a technicians' strike as colour TV was quite commonplace at the time.

I don't remember the alternate titles though - I know the music changed from the poignant wah-wah guitar instrumental to the Ray Davies song (sung by a soundalike).

The titles you describe sound a little like Citizen Smith - you're not thinking of that, are you?

(It's obviously about time I watched my box sets again)
