It was big news in Our Town when it was being filmed. I saw a picture i the paper of Joanne Woodward in a big floppy hat and glasses and thought her very stylish- "Why go looking for hamburger, when you have steak at home" Paul Newman was quoted in the paper saying of her-

As a rabid racing fan- I knew everything about it- The big wreck at the start of the 500 in the movie is footage from first lap mishap 1966, when miraculously, no one was seriously hurt- Not like the flaming early laps crash in 1964 that took the lives of Eddie Sachs and Dave McDonald.

My family went to every 500 for many years- Coincidentally, I took a close-up photo, by climbing up on the fence of Gasoline Alley, of the Rislone Special that Bobby Unser drove to victory in 1968, which was then the "Capra" car

Winning is a sentimentally engrossing, at times gripping film. While not exactly earth-shattering, it is an intelligent, complex, and socially relevant movie that makes striking use of montage. The film didn't bore me for a second, and Paul Newman offers a versatile, thoughtful, coolly intense performance.

I thought it was a good movie but didn't really feel it was about racing enough, it had many similar features to Grand Prix, so I couldn't help but draw comparisons, but in all respects it's not as good as Grand Prix, the racing part most of all. Still a ood movie though, unlike Le Mans, that sucked.

Even if you hate Uwe Boll, give Postal a try, be offended or entertained.

I can safely say I love this movie. Newman is my favorite actor which im sure helps but this is a movie that I felt had a lot of heart. Great movie and actually becoming one of my favorites. Shame its not better received.

I'm surprised some don't like it. Even though I didn't have much interest in Indy racing when I first saw it, the acting and the drama both on and off the track were highly enjoyable. Later when I saw it again the racing was more exciting to me but the human interaction still held up. It's not so popular with people looking for pure Indy racing, I believe, and others who would like the human elements off the track probably don't/didn't see it. Also the title, while a reflection of what the main characters were after, doesn't lead people to understand how much there is to this multi-dimensional movie. Not even a thousand votes? That's a drag.
