Winning at what cost?

"Racing organizations need to implement some serious self-regulation," said Shawn Lemmond, a former North Carolina legislator who now heads the state's boxing commission. "If they don't, it's in the public's best interest that somebody is overseeing this thing."

Doesn't have much to do with this movie. The article is about NASCAR. The Indy 500 race hasn't had a fatality during practice driving since 1996, and no race day fatalities since a spectator was struck by an airborne wheel from Tony Bettenhausen's car in 1987.

The track at Speedway has only had three fatalities in the last twenty years, once in car testing and two in other races.

The 500 had a really poor safety record in the 1920s and 1930s, that started mellowing out a bit in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, hasn't been very bad since then.

"I don't deduce, I observe."
