The Men in the Poster Aren't In the Movie

A stray thought.

Take a look at the poster for "The Wild Bunch." This indeed was the only poster in newspapers at and at the theaters.

But what has always bugged me about the poster is: the men in the poster aren't in the movie.

They are all seen only from behind, which makes identification difficult at best. And yet, clearly: there are too many of them. One of them is much, much taller than the rest -- this is not the case in the movie.

And in outfits and body types...well, there IS one guy kind of dressed in William Holden's "vest and shirt and hat" but...what about all those other guys.

This is one of the strangest movie posters in history, IMHO.

Who decided to stage THIS group of men as The Wild Bunch.

It sure doesn't look like them.

If you recall the botched robbery in the opening scene, some of the gang members didn't make it out alive, most notably "Crazy Lee" and the other one who barely survived after being shot in the face.

I'm guessing the poster depicts all the original members of the Bunch, when the group was in its prime.

Aha! OK...and thanks.
