Two different Swedish titles plus deleted scene(s) debate

I recently got hold of a Swedish movie poster of this one. It's printed in 1970 and has another title than the one mentioned here on imdb so far. Imdb's title refers to "Panik i Brallorna" (Panic In Jeans[?]), this one is called "Gammal Man Gör Så Gott Han Kan" (Old Guy Doing As Best As He Can).

Not only that, the main photo is Norman Wisdom standing up half naked in a bed in his (very WHITE) underpants while desperately trying to get his trousers on and the sweet Sally Geeson looking sensually at him, still lying in bed, titties being very visual. (BTW,great color picture of The Pretty Things inserted there as well - complete with band name! Fanboy's delight!!)

Number one, the first title as referred in imdb suits the poster pic better, number two; the poster shot must obviously be from the deleted scene(s) where Sally shows nudity, number three; last time I saw this flick partially on TV, I remember it had some of the mentioned nudity (the actual scene as in the photo and maybe a wee little more) and number four; can somebody tell me if this movie was rereleased in Sweden and other places in 1970??? If not, why two different titles????

And another thing; where can one find a brilliant DVD (or related)copy complete and uncensored? When I saw what I saw on some TV channel about a year or so ago, I thought it was the same old copy being shown before which I thought I had (just to find that even the latter one had been thrown away by my girlfriend because it was destroyed, according to her), and then ***the scene*** suddenly turned up....... etc. Well....

Just read a good post about this at Cult Movie Forums and it seems that the BBFC snipped the nudity out, and it surfaced in Continental prints. So far it's unclear if the longer cut ever made it to home video. I have been looking for a while and have come up empty so far. All the DVD releases are the cut version and so was the old UK pre cert VHS. I seem to recall reading about a Dutch VHS that was complete but can't confirm this.
Here is the BBFC cut info from the post at CMF:

Large number of BBFC cuts both for an A and then for a U (this is from Beasts in the Cellar book)

Cuts for an A

Reel 5

Remove shots of Nikki putting her hand inside Bartlett's shirt and shots of his reaction to this

Reel 6

The bedroom scene between Bartlett and Nikki must be reduced from the point where he comes out from behind a chair with a towel over the lower half of his body

Reel 9

Remove shots of Nikki in the bath where her bare breasts are visible.

Reduce shots of half-naked hippies lying about a room and necking.

Reduce to a minimum the episode in which Bartlett finds Nikki in bed with a youth.

Cuts for a U (NB: some of these cuts seem to repeat the ones above)

Double reel 2

Remove the whole incident of a man asking a hotel porter for the address of a woman and being given it.

Double reel 5

Remove all shots of Bartlett and Nikki in bed together.

Remove all shots of Nikki in the bath when her breasts are visible.

Reduce the shots of the half naked hippies necking on the floor.

Remove the shots of Bartlett opening a bedroom door and seeing Nikki in bed with a youth.

Double reel 6

Remove the shots of Bartlett taking off his towel and advancing on his wife who is in bed.

Beasts in the Cellar pp 125-127 states twice that the topless shots were intended for Continental release only although as can be seen from the BBFC notes above, they were included in the prints sent to the BBFC for UK release. Pgs 125 and 148 show shots of a topless Sally Geeson in bed with Norman Wisdom (in the bed scene requested to be cut by the BBFC for the U cert). One of these shots was a FoH still !

The length of the new DVD release is the same as the previous 1999 release. The pre-cert was about 15m shorter. The original BBFC submission length was 106m which is 4m longer than the DVD release time adjusted.

Hey jbernhard, that's really some great information!! And I'm only replying to your fabulous reply only a year and a half later...sorry about that. Just got my hands onto a new official DVD copy, lacking those very same minutes. As I mentioned in my previous message, some six-seven(?) years ago a 'complete' print was shown on a foreign channel we had possession to for a while, and I made a vhs copy of it. And,yes; it was a Dutch channel, now defunct to my knowledge. As well as that d***n VHS copy, thanks to the dangers of VCR technology. Anyone out there with a complete copy in top shape?? Anyway, many thanks for your great reply, jbernhard!!

Oh, I would be grateful to see a full copy of this film, even in a poor quality VHS- Mr Zootsuit, if your copy is watchable, can you message me to see if we can arrange a trade.

Hi simoncatweazle (great name btw - I grew up with the Catweazle series on TV in the early seventies)! I'd gladly make you a copy if possible, but I fear that the VHS copy may have been thrashed due to serious problems with our VCR; it chew up our tapes in the end and my gf threw a lot of our damaged VHS tapes. I fear that the one with the uncensored 'Goose' was one of them... I certainly hope this is not the case, but for the time being all our VHS tapes are stored away - will do my best to see if it's still available. I'm not kidding you, this is a true story.

Mr. Zootsuit! No worries- if you can-thanks! to everyone else, I heartily recommend John Hamilton's book "Beasts In The Cellar- The Exploitation Film Career of Tony Tenser" He details a lot of the making of film "What's Good For The Goose" and talks about the numerous prints that made it onto the continent.

The really odd thing about this movie is, I recently found a download of the European version, with all the cut nudity (google it. It is out there if you look), but this version is actually considerably shorter than the UK version! They chopped the ending short for one thing. Obviously it's also 4:3, rather than 16:9, as with the DVD.

I can imagine the producers wanted to maximise their profits by having different versions going out to different territories.
I am wondering though, if the "Girl Trouble" variant of the picture, is he uncensored version with an English soundtrack?
