I hated the part when the elephant was forced to battle Gwangi.

All of you elephant haters very likely support cruelty to animals. You probably would throw a dog to a boa constrictor as well.

reply

Yes. They shouldn't allow fake animals to fight for our amusement. I'm thinking of contacting PETA because some kids were playing with rubber spiders and snakes this Halloween. Although I was in favor of euthanizing my son's stuffed animal dog when it bit him. These are very polarizing issues.

reply

Haha guys!

Yes, the fake clay elephant.

Some trivia on the model elephant:

"Special effects master Ray Harryhausen has said that sequence of the elephant performing its act and its subsequent fight with Gwangi were done with no shots of a real elephant because no such animal was available. However, there is an elephant in the very early scene of the Wild West show's parade through the town, and Ray's animation puppet is a perfect double for it."

reply

I hated it too, but not for the stupid reasons you give.

I want to live in a world of magic and miracles, not emptiness and entropy.

That time of the month, huh?

reply

As soon as I saw that elephant, I knew the poor thing was doomed. The same thing
happened to the brave elephant who tried to take on the giant lizard in 20 Million Miles to Earth. Harryhausen seemed to have had it in for elephants. Maybe
he cried when he saw Dumbo and he was so embarrassed that he took it out on
them ever afterwards.

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

Hewwo.

Tusk, tusk, easy there ...before we start worrying over the rights of clay Elephants, we should worry about the real ones....and we could be a bit more respectful to women...
Don't you think that 'film student'?
lmfao..

'When you hang a man, you better look at him.'

reply

Yeah, I found that scene to be rather unpleasant.
