Question about the beginning (POSSIBLE SPOILERS!)

I'll try and not give away the film for others in my questions, so it might be phrased a little weird for those who have seen it.

Why did the guy in the crime scene in the gallery who attacked the woman lock the glass door? Was it so that he could frame Sam Dalmas for it? It certainly shouldn't be for the wife since she was not getting out anyway as there was already a door locked.

panic maybe? He was fleeing and he saw Sam, so he had to make sure that he could not be followed?

Exactly. He was fleeing so he had to lock Sam IN.

To stop Dalmas from going to get the police right away, and thus have time to escape.

A better question is why didn't Sam even try to break the glass door.
