Cuban relations open 46 years after film's release in 1969


Hi everyone, I have commented on this film before, but now with relations opening up between Cuba and the USA, something occurred to me. Despite the film's weak reception and somewhat lackluster reviews, did the lingering images of the Cubans, as interpreted by Hitchcock, have a lot to with the public's perception of the Cuban leadership, and the delay all these years to re-establishing ties ? The brutal, arrogant and murderous Rico Parra together with his thugs, and poor Juanita DeCordova and the Mendozas trying to protect the West at the risk of their own lives...did these images linger in the public mind for years..? Something to think about...
