Two questions

1. Was the story (told by Tomas) that Anna wasn't actually the mother of Isabella and Sebastian, that she couldn't have children, and that the mother was some servant just b.s. he was slinging to distract Rafael? Before she died, Anna did say to Isabella "don't call me mother" or something like that, but it seemed most likely she was referring to her not being worthy.

2. Did Sebastian forget the events of the night that his father died? He was taken away by the servant Maria at the beginning, and I get that she raised him as a mother. He tells Rafael (before he knows who he is) that that the grave is for his mother. Do we take it that he doesn't remember what happened and actually thought Maria was his mother, or that he was just schooled for his safety to always refer to her that way?
