The last time I saw this page it was rated 9.3, which was quite satisfying, given this is truly one of the greatest Hungarian movies.
Now it's 7.6 which is quite ridiculous. I did a little search and it turned out that 148 US users has given the movie 1.
Spambots? Retards? It's strange anyway.

I also checked out now the rating of this film and what surprised me was that this film is much more popular among young people, it got the worst ratings from people above 45. I would hve thought just the opposite. Also, women (especially above 45) liked it much less than men, another thing I don't unerstand (I'm also female and love this film.)
Anyway, the ratings at imdb do not say much about the quality of a film, films not satisfying mass tastes do not get a good rating here.
This is puzzling. It's hard for me to figure out why people over 45 would make a point of downgrading a film, giving it a 1 just to affect the ratings. Seems to me it's mostly young people who enjoy conformity, and are comfortable with using all sorts of tactics to enforce it.
If the 1-star votes do come from people who are disproportionately American, male, and over 45, I ask myself-- what group fitting that discription would have a political or ideological agenda strong enough to move them to such action?
Hungarian-American refugees? People old enough to have come to this country after the 1956 uprising?
I don't have a point of my own to make about the film-- in fact I just now got a copy of it and haven't watched it yet.
One consolation, for people who care about this film and want others to see it-- the 7.6 rating is still plenty high. It will motivate people to watch the film, I think.
I was surprised at first, too. But maybe most Hungarian 45+ years old women don't even know about IMDb. Those ratings might come from some frustrated people looking for something else. Anyway, when I come to IMDb to check ratings to decide if I should watch a movie, I don't rely on the ratings. The user reviews are much more useful to estimate the values of a movie.
share7.6 is a friggin' great rating though. Not sure how it's ridiculous. Particulary when the number 1 film on the IMDb top 250 is rated 9.1.
