This movie is absolutely remarkable. Maybe it is less understandable for those who never lived in a communist country. We unfortunately lived in communism until 1989... The Witness is Bacsó's masterpiece. The dialogues are fabulous, the caracters are remarkable. And Kallai Ferenc, Mr Pelikán, is unforgottable. Watch this movie! I can recommend it highly

shareFully agree. Cult comedy that is still funny after 50 years. A must see for all Eastern Europeans. A mix of two Polish counterparts: "Zezowate Szczescie" by Munk and "Mis" by Bareja (also recommended).
