If You Like This Film

If you liked this film and want to see similar ones from that same era, try (the most obvious one)..."The Graduate", but also "Goodbye Columbus", "The Summer of '42" and "The Paper Chase". Also try "Last Summer" with a young and hot Barbara Hershey (if you can find it).

"Last Summer" in particular. That's another gem all but totally lost to obscurity...

I'd add both "The Rain People" and "Midnight Cowboy" to the list, but not so much. There's a feeling there, entirely missing from modern movies.

1969 was a terrific year.

I would also suggest the 1968 movie Sweet November starring Sandy Dennis and Anthony Newley. It's a heartbreaking movie too and I love it since I'm a big Sandy Dennis fan. Much better than the crummy remake starring Keanu Reaves -- yuck!

I have found a dvd copy of Last Summer on stumpydisks. I'ver ordered from them before and they are not rip-offs. Not sure of the audio/pic quality, but I'm planning on ordering it so after I check it out I'll post back on here. Still looking for The Sterile Cuckoo.

Two films by Joanne Woodward, "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the Moon Marigolds" (1972) and "Rachel, Rachel" (1968) are also reminiscent of this era.
