'Run Wild, Run Free', first ever DVD release announced.

Columbia Pictures "Run Wild, Run Free", the 1969 Technicolor film that Mark Lester made directly after "Oliver!" (1968) was released on a Columbia RCA VHS video way back in 1986 and has long since been deleted. Fans of the film have been waiting for a DVD release of it for years, the only such copies so far available have been the DVD-R discs sold on eBay which are transfers from the old (and not very good quality) video tape.

Now, Movie Mail in the UK have announced that Sony will be releasing a DVD of it on July 15th, 2013, and it will be available as a Movie Mail Exclusive (although it may later become available from other sources such as amazon). For those who, like myself, are interested in finally taking their old video of "Run Wild, Run Free" off their shelf for good and at long last replacing it with a new DVD version, here is the link:

I received the pre-ordered DVD today, two days in advance of the release date and it's a superb, beautifully restored transfer, with the image and sound as clear as a bell and anamorphically enhanced in 16 x 9. The film hasn't looked this good since it was first released. Highly Recommended.

Just received mine too David, wonderful to relive the memories...Loved Sylvia Sims and John Mill. What a first rate cast.... And, oh dear, the adult Mark Lester thinking he maybe father to Michael Jacksons children....tut tut

Yes, if only Mark could have stayed 10 years old forever...in fact, if only we could have stayed 10 years old forever, as well. Never mind, in this film at least, he'll never grow old. I am very pleased with the quality of the DVD. It's a vast improvement on the now long deleted VHS video from 1986.
