re the Pegasus DVD ...

can anyone tell me if this really is the 115 minute version as stated on Amazon?
Also is it in 2:35 widescreen?
I was stung a while back by buying this on another label and nearly 30 minutes had been hacked out.
Thanks

It is 115 minutes, but not in widescreen. Also the picture's a bit scratchy. Looks like we'll have to wait a few years for a DVD that'll do justice to this film.

thanks for that info.

Its a shame they can't they get this one right. Christopher Plummer is still around and it would be great if he was interviewed or even better provided an audio commentary!

I bought this dvd at Nottingham yesterday for £5. It is atrocious quality. I am warning you ... DON'T BUY THIS VERSION!

I gather there won´t be any studio release of this film; so what are we to cvhoose from?

There are 3 DVD issues of this dvd; the old Semitar, the new R1 and the R2 pegasus.

The warning "don´t buy this version" (pegaus) is of course based on the fact that the print is pan & scan and from times a bit scratched. However this is the only uncut version (115 min) - even though I suspect the titles at the beginning have been cut somewhat.

The print is quite better than many public domain titles (where picture details are washed out, and the audio is less than hearable) - but no way near a big studio, widescreen release.

I would recomend this pegasus issue anyway; the sound is quite good (you hear every word). The full frame is not that distracting - I was actually surprised learning that the original was shoot in 2.35 : 1, the colors are vibrant even though somewhat artificial looking.

I paid 5£ and was happy with my purchase.
