Why double standards?

Started watching this movie, and in the opening scenes, we see young boys swimming. A couple of the boys are shown fully nude, including frontal. Now if that were young girls shown nude, they're be an outcry from liberals about indecency. So why is showing nude boys OK?

Seriously? The people who tend to be prudish about nudity in film, art, and media are social, cultural, and religious conservatives who, for decades now (dating back to the 1960s in particular) have railed against alleged indecency and supposedly pornographic influences. Indeed, you may want to learn the history of such matters and think through what you're saying.

Regardless if they were males or females, I wonder if such a scene in a modern film would escape the shouts of "child pornography".

Scratching my head at this. Wouldn't conservative-minded folk prefer BOTH boys and girls covered-up, even in the ol' swimmin' hole? Perhaps neo-cons have a different take on this. Libertarians? Who knows? Buck nekkid', I guess.

Objection, your Honor. You can't preface your second point with first of all.

You are talking almost 50 years ago and they were showing grown women's breast on a regular basis. They NEVER showed a boy or man's penis so stop your belly aching!!!

reply

They NEVER showed a boy or man's penis
Apparently, they did!

You guys might want to check posts on the board for the original movie of Lord of the Flies about how it compared to the remake on this issue. Yes, standards of what was acceptable changed.

reply

skinny dipping was unique to boys..girls didnt do it

reply

Before bathing suits were invented, boys and girls simply had separate swimming holes.
