The strange camera

i saw this movie long time ago , and i remember what i said to my self , at that time : " this is a new experience ; the camera doesn't follow the actors ; they go around , but it remains in the same place and same direction !" .
It was long time ago , so i couldn't explaind it . I hope i can watch it now .

more we live , more we understand ...that we don't understand !

I just caught this film on t.v. and started watching it because I thought it was an interesting title. Great film, really interesting and the ending shocked me. I like how you see flashes of these people's past and who they use to be. How you never really find out how badly the one guy had been injured in the football accident. How much does he understand? I also loved the way it was filmed. Especially when the woman is at home with the police officer and his power is cut off, you realize how alone in the world she is by seeing her in the darkness. It should be on DVD, really glad I watched it.

nmartin , yes , there are a lot of ignored movies in the past . But they are great . One of them is "Rain People" . But there are others , which only movie lovers enjoy them .
The other day I remembered an Italian movie : " Italian Secret Service " . It's great , but no one knows it .

I don't see you . My eyes made not to see you .

French New Wave was doing that - camera moving or not moving - following or not following the actors - years before. Francis probably saw a lot of Godard films while in film school.

There may have been some of that even before that, but if I have seen it, I have forgotten it for the time being.

I was struck by the interesting camera work in the early motel scene when Caan first comes in. The two of them are having a conversation, and yet, reflected in various large mirrors on different walls, they look as if they're talking past each other. Was this meant to suggest how fundamentally different they are?

To me it represented Natalie's disconnectedness and the fact that she was looking for an anonymous hookup.

Good point that. These are all related facets of the same idea, I guess.
