Possibly the best of the hot rod films!

As a collector of early hot rod / racing films, I consider this to be possibly the best of the genre. Although done in the '60's, this has the look and feel of the '50's films, but with a lot more car action than probably all the others combined. Everyone is perfectly cast, especially Sid Haig, and Dick Davalos.

i agree.. I stumbled across this and took a chance buying it on DVD. One of the better hot rod films for sure. Realistic action, the beginning drag racing scene is almost better than the insane figure eight racing.

I agree. And what an awesome ending. This might be my favorite Jack Hill flick. It would have been interesting if he'd done a few more art house/exploitation films. Hell of a watch.

This is such a great period film, too bad so few people have heard of it and even fewer have seen it.

Shame it's not in colour. Any car fan ill get something out of it, especially the stock car racing and junkyard scenes.

People should spend more time watching movies and less time bitching about IMDB spoilers.

lol What I'd give to have a year to go through that junkyard and take out what I wanted; it would be a nice, clean parking lot when I was finished (at the end of only a month).

I remember walking around the half-mile track at Ascot Park Raceway in Gardena, California, where some of this movie was filmed, and spotting nuts, bolts, and other small car bits embedded in the dirt, left over from the demolition derbies and figure-8 races.
