Disappointed!!

Seldom was I that much disappointed as with this movie, though rated 7.0 currently.

The idea as such could have been a great movie, a classics. The actors are good, but don't shine.

I could give a 2.0 for the cinematography. It spoils everything. It is a flat running of the camera like in a pre-evening series. I think, the potential of the actors suffered under this predicament as well. The only exception that I can remember was the scene with twig of the bush and the shadow on the naked backside of Romy. She was good, much better than the camera, to show the gradual transformation of understanding what had happened at the pool on that fateful night.
Think of that silly camera at the funeral. Okay, we see naked legs, mini-skirts and a police officer watching through some gravestones. So what!?
Hiding the used clothes seems to be 'just shot'; same as retrieving the fresh clothes from the wardrobe. No suspense, no unusual perspective of these 'sneaking' activities.
It could as well have developed the inherent perspective of the nouveau rich, the superficial conversations especially between the two men; supposedly artists. No wonder, that the writer was unsuccessful. Undeveloped.
the evening with the carloads of friends. What was all this good for? A hang-over the next morning, and a glimpse of things to come, when Romy danced with the friend, and Pen was courted by Alain Delon.

I can't follow the logic of the ending, but that doesn't bug me all too much in comparison.

This movie serves best only if one has to kill time and nothing else.

So sad to see all the wasted potential. :-(
