Intermission

I can remember seeing this movie in the theater when it was first released. I have a clear memory of the intermission occurring at the end of the song "There's a Coach Coming In", and the curtain closing as the frame of the building was being raised. However,on the DVD, the intermission comes following the line "Elizabeth, there will be three for dinner". Anyone else remember the theatrical release?

I saw it quite a number of times on its first run.

While I was only seven years old, it made a big impression on me, and I still love it.

But here in the UK at least the intermission game just where it does on the DVD. I vividly remember it coming after the "Elizabeth, there will be three for dinner", then opening with The Preacher.

I'll be interested to hear if any shares your recollection, but I think you may be mis-remembering. I suppose its just possible that some theatres may have moved it, but I doubt it. I cn't see why they would, and the entr'acte would have been on the first reel after the intermission. Plus they were placed at reel changes and I don't think there could have been time for a reel to play out between "There's a Coach Coming In" and where I recollect it ending, so there shouldn't have been a reel change after"Coach".

I've always been a bit geeky about intermissions, and am glad when they are included on DVD. The "Where Eagles Dare" intermission was, I remember, oddly placed and isn't on the DVD. Took me ages to establish exactly where it was, and really only had it established on the boards here as it was included on the laser disc some users had. It was close to where I remember it, but I got that slightly wrong!

Thank you for your reply. I also do not recall there being an entr'acte following the intermission. I saw the movie in the first run for in Florida and then again several weeks later in North Carolina. Both times the intermission, as well as I recall, was as I stated earlier.
I also love intermissions being included on DVD'S. The last movie that I remember seeing with one at the theater was REDS.

On the DVD version I have, the intermission comes after 'Elizabeth, there will be three for dinner,' and opens up on the preacher's arrival, also.

The only other film I can think of with a preserved intermission is 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail,' and that 'intermission' is part of the joke.

BTW: My mom & dad went to see this movie in the theatres, right after their marriage. Some honeymoon, huh?

- Crazy. All crazy but I'm.
