I had an Australian over my house the other night.....

I live in upstate NY and my wife had her friend and her new Australian husband over. Of course the conversation turned to all things Australian (kangaroos, crocodiles, Sydney opera house etc). My new Australian friend said that he was a James Bond fan. I assumed that since he's Australian, he must love George Lazenby, the only Australian James Bond. He said he never heard of George Lazenby or for that matter On Her Majesty's Secret Service. It just goes to show you how little respect Lazenby gets. I told my new Australan friend that when he gets back to Australia that he needed to see OHMSS immediately since it's one of the best James Bond movies.

You should have busted out a copy of the film and had him sit down to watch it right there.

You should have slapped him little and then striped him of his right to ever address himself as a Bond fan.

The typical casual moviegoer of today is only familiar with really recent movies. So he's probably a fan of Daniel Craig, and maybe Pierce Brosnan if he can remember back that far.
