Opening Sequence diesnt fit

How does the opening sequence, in which Bond saves tracy from committing suicide by walking into the ocean, fit into the rest of the story?
In the novel it happens well after bond meets Tracy and the sequence when they first meet in the casino and sleep together is a flashback.

In the film, however, it doesn't seem to fit the storyline at all. There's no flashback and the two don't seen to recognize each other when they meet in the casino, even though he has saved her life.

Anybody have an explanation?

They do recognize each other in the casino. Hence the reason Tracy asks, "Why do you insist on rescuing me, Mr. Bond?"

Bond was intrigued by Tracy in the beginning when her car sped past him. He followed her to the beach and saved her when he noticed she was trying to commit suicide.

It's worth noting that this is probably not the first time he's seen or interacting with Tracy either, as it's indicated that Draco has taken notice of Bond attraction to Tracy for a good while. However, the beach is obviously the first time Bond has told her his name.

That's just a normal trope of the Bond movies. An actiony opening sequence that has absolutely jack to do with the rest of the movie.
