NO, this movie wouldn't have been "better" with Sean in it.

If Connery had played Bond in OHMSS, I don't think it would have been as good as it is the way Lazenby made it.

1- Lazenby was nervous and inexperienced, and it shows. That's a good thing considering that Bond, in that particular movie, is human, weak and in love.

2- They cast Diana Rigg to balance the inexperience of Lazenby. With Connery available for the film, it would habe been somebody else. And that defenitly would have altered the quality.

3- Connery's Bond would not fit in a weak and scared Bond (can you imagine Connery shouting for fear at the sight of a fake polar bear ???).

4- Blofeld is supposed to recognize Bond 'cause he already met him in YOLT. He doesn't, but it's Ok because we're having 2 different actors there (Savalas and Lazenby Vs Connery and Pleasance).
If Connery would have returned, the sequence would have been very weird.

Totally agree. Connery turned Bond into Superman. Lazenby made him human again. After Bond escapes from Piz Gloria in the village he looks nervous. Connery couldn't do that, nor could Connery have done the final scene. Lazenby nails it

Diamond Are Forever would've been much better with George in it.

Agreed.

Roger Moore's Bond did actually also once have a frightened look on his face.
That is seen the train fight scene with Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me, when Jaws picks him up with his huge hands and pushes him up against the wall.

Timothy Dalton also looked scared once: In Licence To Kill at the Bar fight when he's threatened with a stuffed sword fish.

When Connery stopped being James Bond around YOLT, you could clearly see his boredom for the role. There fore, it would be incredibly hard to imagine him have convincingly pulling off some of the scenes in the film that called for him to be more emotionally vulnerable.

Connery grew bored of Bond because of the character's lack of growth and development, so he no doubt would have greatly embraced a film like this and would have done a great job with the material. Connery's an excellent actor, after all, and while the film might be slightly different in certain aspects, it would defiinitely be as good, if not better.
