Hoax! Dvd commentary is actually Brando!

A friend at Universal told me that director Cornfield did not do the commentary on the dvd; Brando did, as a joke! He used an electronic voice disguiser, which accounts for the weird sound of "Cornfield's" voice. My friend said that Cornfield went along with the gag for a sum of money and because Brando - as "Cornfield" - basically told the truth about how difficult he (Brando) was during the making of the film. Another great Brando performance!

Darin? huh?! He WAS in one of Cornfield's other films, but he died in the early 70's ya know.

Cornfield had to use a voice synthesizer box for the last ten years of his life. I think he'd had throat cancer. I met him a couple of times around 2000-2001 and he was using it then. It was a bit difficult to understand him, even live and in person, but well worth the effort because he was a great theatre guest!!! He was a classic old school tough guy director and a WILD man, seriously. Total character, very out-there. Hit on all us girls at the theatre, too..lol. (Blatantly! no finesse but tons of chutzpah!)

Anyway, his stories were hilarious and erm...very colorful. OK, vulgar. Anyway. I think that WAS his voice on the DVD, not Brando's. But I imagine he and Brando together created a truly epic level of madness on that set. I'd love to hear Rita Moreno reminisce about them--unlike them, she's sane; and plus, she has a good sense of humor, so her viewpoint would probably be quite enjoyable.

I was sorry to hear Cornfield had died. He was truly a larger-than-life crazy-creative nut, as was Brando. Very memorable and likeable guy. I enjoy his films a lot; like him, they're uniquely weird and entertaining! :-)

I agree with the Doctor on this, if the DVD commentary was recorded anytime in the 2000's then Brando would have been in such poor health that I doubt he would have been able to have sustained himself through a DVD commentary without there being some indication that it was him.

I also went onto Youtube and watched several clips of interviews with him and then listening to the DVD commentary it was clear that the commentator was not Brando as even Brando, when he's not acting, still has a distinct way of speaking and it did not match to the commentary track.

Yes, and they finally found a body of Bigfoot to prove its existence!

Why was brando so difficult toward the director cornfield in this film ??

Therefore we may call that art true at which does not seem to be art."

Brando has a reputation of being difficult. Richard Boone was a method actor as well.
Brando and Boone together were a combination of bad boys. Neither liked nor did they have any respect for Cornfeld and they ganged up on him.

My interpretation is that they did what they wanted to do in front of the camera in this film. Brando refused to take direction from Cornfeld. Boone directed at least one scene in the film because of Brando's refusal to deal with the director.
